APEX Teenage Fashion Awards 2016

APEX Teenage Fashion Awards 2016 Success:
First and Third Placing PLUS Best Overall Garment!

On Sunday 18 September, the South Australian APEX Teenage Fashion Awards were held at Scotch College. This year, nine of our students entered the Fashion Awards in the categories of Casual Wear, Cotton to Couture and Wearable Art. They were Year 12 students Courtney, Kirrily, Shania and Alice, Year 11 students, Magella, Emerald, Abbey and Elizabeth and Year 10 student, Kate-Lyn. There were over 75 students entering from secondary schools across South Australia.

Our students' outfits were all quite remarkable and they modelled them gracefully on the catwalk. Congratulations to Elizabeth Nelson on winning an impressive third place in the Wearable Art category with her chandelier inspired creation, winning a $50 voucher from Needleworks, as well as a trophy.

Congratulations to Courtney Errey who placed first in the Wearable Art category with her amazing underwater themed garment. She won an overlocker and trophy as well as a place in the National finals in Melbourne in October. Courtney also won the judges’ prize for Best Overall Garment where they commented on her excellent attention to detail. For this, Courtney received a 12 week modelling course with the Tanya Powell Model Agency.

We are very proud of our entrants and look forward to them showcasing the garments as part of the Creative Arts & Design Extravaganza in November.

Students can begin Fashion Design in Year 10 and then go on to do Fashion Design through the subject of Creative Arts in Years 11 and 12.
