A place to grow

Foundation

While the ELC Preschool Program is designed to support children in developing the skills and abilities needed for lifelong learning from the moment they
enrol, the Transition Orientation Program (TOP) is specifically implemented to help ELC students become familiar with school life and build emotional strategies that support their growing sense of belonging and identity within the wider SVCC community.

We understand that transitioning to school is a significant milestone for young children. Our school transition program supports their sense of belonging by helping them become familiar with the new learning environment and by fostering trusting, close, and respectful relationships with their teachers

What to expect

During the sessions, teachers create hands-on experiences to navigate elements that are a common trigger of anxiety and uncertainty in young children transitioning to school. This is achieved through meaningful and inquiry-based opportunities where they hypothesise, question, research, share information, and reflect. Throughout each term, our ELC students enjoy a variety of learning experiences on the school grounds, helping them build familiar connections and nurturing relationships within the larger SVCC community. ELC and Foundation students, together with their class buddies from Years 3–4, develop strong bonds through playdates and by sharing learning experiences and inquiries during community events.

ELC students also take part in school-wide events such as Sports Day, Book Week, Science Week, Hispanic Day, Grandparents Day, and Family Fun Day, among many others.

By the end of ELC, students have developed a strong sense of identity and belonging. They begin their journey as capable and curious learners, taking confident steps into Foundation.
