Diverse Education Teacher

Commencing Immediately 2024 FTE 0.8 (initially, 0.4 at each campus for six months)

 

We are looking for an innovative leader and educator with a passion for developing diverse learners using a variety of teaching and learning methodologies.

 

The successful applicant will:

  • ·Be registered with the South Australian Teachers Registration Board;

  • Have a commitment to the ethos of an independent Christian school;

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Inclusive Education or similar OR a Bachelor of Education and prior experience in working and leading in Special Education settings

  • Have experience working in Special Education/Diverse Education in schools;

  • Have a broad knowledge of a variety of learning difficulties & disabilities;  

  • Work collaboratively with primary and secondary classroom teachers and Diverse Education SSOs to support assessment for learning of their students with additional educational needs and identify specific learning and support needs;

  • Work with external agencies to assess student;  

  • Plan, implement, model, monitor and evaluate support programs for primary and secondary students;

  • Assist the Diverse Education Leaders in providing professional advice, support and mentoring to classroom teachers;

  • Provide advice on appropriate specialist services to parents and teachers;

  • Collaboratively write and review Individual Education Plans (IEP) for eligible students.

  • Coordinate the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) at the Morphett Vale Campus with assistance from the Learning Support Coordinator.

SSO – Diverse Education

Commencing immediately 2024 (32 hours a week)
Available to work at Aldinga Campus

 

The successful applicants will:

  • have skills, experience and passion in working with individual or small groups of students experiencing difficulties.

  • have a certificate 3 or 4 in Educational support as a minimal qualification.

  • have experience working with Primary and High School students.

  • have good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships.

  • provide personal care for students with physical disabilities i.e. following Continence Care Plans, supervision eating, occasional manual handling.

  • prepare, manage and set up the teaching resources.

  • support students in the daily class program.

  • support the implementation and evaluation of class programs for the students.

  • collaborate effectively within the Diverse Education Team.

  • respect and support colleagues, families, and students through positive communication.

  • actively ensure the ongoing provision of quality teaching for students with disabilities and additional educational needs.

  • assist students to successfully participate in camps and excursions.
