Primary School
In the primary at Southern Vales Christian College each child is valued as a gift from God, with unique qualities and gifts to offer. Each child brings with them curiosity and potential, strengths and a capacity to thrive.
FAITH
Children are provided with opportunities to worship our Heavenly Father each day and learn in a faith filled environment.
WELLBEING
Children’s wellbeing is very important at SVCC. Through the KidsMatter initiative, we seek to develop a sense of belonging and security. Lunch time clubs, House competitions and special events such as Grandparents’ Day and the Arts Extravaganza give children many opportunities to be involved in school life. Parents are also very welcome at these events.
Integral to a sense of security at SVCC is our behaviour management policy, which is carefully implemented.
LEARNING
We provide an inquiry based learning program, using Understanding by Design (UbD). Children’s understanding of concepts are developed, with opportunity for innovation, creativity and academic rigor. In Literacy we use Jolly Phonics and the Doorway Into Practical Literacy programs (DIPL).Children have the opportunity to engage in specialist lessons with trained specialist teachers: Spanish, Physical Education, Performing Arts and Research and Inquiry Learning (RAIL) in the library.
IPAD PROGRAM
Years 3 to 6 participate in a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) iPad program. We believe it is vital for children to be equipped to participate in our ever-changing 21st Century society. iPads are a necessary tool to empower children to learn.
Foundation to Year 2 students access a school bank of iPads.
We warmly welcome families to tour each of our campuses and we invite questions around enrolment.
May God bless you richly as you consider
Southern Vales Christian College.
